I've been wanting to start a blog for a while but kept putting it off because I'm terrible at writing and it's hard to let others read it. Finally I just decided to jump in and start. I figure it's the only way to get over a fear.
A little about myself - I've been married to my husband, Gary, for 17 years. I'm a mother to Kara, 14 (almost 15), and Alex, 10. I started quilting about 1998. I quickly found out that I did not like following someone elses pattern and started designing my own traditional quilts. After reading "Scrap Quilts - The Art of Making Do" and "The Fabric Makes the Quilt" both by Roberta Horton, I realized there was more than traditional quilting. Over the years my quilting has evolved to where it is today and the Quiltart group has been a big part of that. I live in a rural area so my online groups are my access to the quilting world.
This past year I was invited to join a small local group called "Fiber Art Friends" which has been fun. I was able to participate last year in their annual quilt show. Yes, I did find that there are some other art quilters in this area of traditional quilters. Just to let you know, I'm not putting traditional quilters down, I admire their work but it is not for me.
Right now, I'm still trying to figure out where my work is heading and trying to figure out how to fit it in with my family and work. Someday I hope to have more time to devote to my quilting but now I have to fit it in with everything else, even if it's just 15 minutes a day sewing or just looking through my notebook of design ideas or a book for new inspiration.
I don't have any pictures yet and still have to figure out how to get them onto my blog but I will get some up soon. I know a blog is much more interesting to read when there are pictures.
I hope you enjoy my blog and will come back and visit again.

Blogs are such fabulous things - a way of keeping a diary, a project planner and a correspondence all in one! I'm finding mine invaluable!
Will keep checking back...

Yay, Beth, I hope you will post some pictures of your work too!
Welcome to the blogger world, beth.
While most blogs are keyed on the writing, I've come to believe that the key for "arts and crafts" blogs is the visual.
