Plus Size Inchies

Not much to write about today. I have been working on these plus size inchies. I joined an online group called Fiber Art Traders and they are making plus size inchies. Instead of making 1" embellished squares like I have seen on other blogs, they are making them 1 1/2". A little easier to work with. I just made these up for myself. I've thought of some projects to make using inchies for embellishments. I'm also making a couple other ones using fabric beads and am making them into pins. Sue Bleiweiss has a tutorial on how she makes these. She calls them charms. I made mine a little different so that the stitches holding the embellishments on wouldn't show.

Padfolio

This is the padfolio that I was working on. The green yarn is just temporary until I can figure out what I want to do. I may make some sort of cord on my sewing machine. I also want to add some beads to the ends of the cord. This was my first time putting an eyelet in something. Of course, I couldn't practice on something else first. Luckily I did it right the first time.

Sue Bleiweiss has tutorial for making these.

This is the outside of the whole piece. I love this piece of dyed fbric and have been waiting for something to use it in.

Just the inside that shows the pockets. The straight one is for the pad of paper and the slanted one is for whatever I want to put in it.
Warm weather has finally come to NH. Tomorrow it is supossed to get up into the 90's. Too hot for me!!! Guess I won't be doing ot much on my day off. Hot weather really wears me out. Guess I need to find the fan. Also, the black flies and mosquitos are out in full force. If we aren't careful, we will be eaten alive!!

More book pages

Friday was our art quilt meeting. We all recieved our pages back to make into a book. Sue wasn't there and GeriAnn's page didn't make it up from Mass, so I don't have pictures of their work yet.
This is my page for Sue's Personal Goddesses book. I had an idea and when I finished this up, I didn't think it fit. (Not what I had pictured in my mind) So I had to come up with a name for her. I called her the Goddess of color. I decided to to it in a style that was completely out of my comfort zone.
This is Lynn's for Marilyn's Techniques book.

This one is Marilyn's for my Nature book.
And finally Carmen's for Lynn's Sky book
There is so much detail in these that the pictures don't show.

Now to figure out how I will put my book together. I'm thinking of using bamboo sticks for the hinges between the pages. I had thought of using sticks from the woods around our house but the bamboo is less rough and I don't have to worry about branches sticking out. I may still search around the woods and see what I can find.

I'm working on a padfolio. I learned about these on various blogs. Sue Bleiweiss designed them and has a tutorial and pattern on how to make these. I'm still embellishing the fabric for mine.

Circle Postcards

I haven't done much in the last week. I did finish postcards for a swap. They had to have at least 1 circle on them. The first 5 I did, I forgot to take pictures. These are from the last batch of 4. They were all very similar so I just picked a couple out to post.
I need to get working on my last book page for the round robin swap. The theme, Personal Godesses, is a hard one for me. It took some time to come up with an idea. Now to just get it done before Friday. I also need to figure out what I will be taking for dessert.

More Round Robin Pages

It's been a while since I've had a chance to post anything. Our art quilt group met last Friday. I took 2 weeks worth of pictures since I missed the meeting 3 weeks ago.

This one is Lynn's page for "Art Paper Dolls"
and the other side. I'm not really sure which is the front and which is the back.
This is Marilyn's page for "Art Paper Dolls"
and the back.

GeriAnn's page for Marilyn's "Techniques" book.
Carmen's Page for the "Techniques" book. She experimented with foiling.

Carmen's page for my "Nature" book. I think she used Shiva paint sticks for the leaves.
Lynn's,Ice Out, page for my "Nature" book. After we had some of Marilyn's delicious desserts (she made 2!), we played with Shiva paint sticks. I'm not sure if I really like them or not.
Next meeting we will get our own books back and then we get to figure out how we want to put them together.
We've been thinking about making fairy houses for our next project. This would not be a round robin but we each would make our own. We've have talked about doing something that was more 3-d.
